Making sense of wine tasting
What effect does ageing have on wine? How come wine very rarely smells of grapes? Why is it I can taste blackcurrants and plums? What's all that about sweaty saddles? Come and delve into the intricacies of colour, smell and taste as we try to make sense of wine tasting....and have a lot of fun doing so!
Week 1: -origins of colour in wine; what to look for; the effects of age
Week 2/3: -familiarise yourself with the Nez du Vin reference aromas; match these aromas with a range of red and white wines
Week 4/5: -tasting techniques; test your sensitivity to sweetness and acidity; taste and compare a range of red and white wines
The course will run for five weeks from Monday February 15, 2010. Cost is £45 or £10 per session.
Venue: Beverley Conservative Club, Wylies Road, Beverley, East Yorkshire
